Pio Clementino Sculpture: From the Square Vestibule to the Marble Chariot

Move from the Apoxyomenos Cabinet and Octagonal Court through the Pio Clementino’s sequence of sculpture rooms, ending with monumental Roman halls and the reconstructed marble chariot.

Pio Clementino Sculpture: From the Square Vestibule to the Marble Chariot

Why go

Begin with the Square Vestibule and Apoxyomenos Cabinet after entering the Vatican Museums with a timed ticket. The Octagonal Court then brings the Laocoön and Apollo Belvedere into view, before the Hall of Animals and portrait galleries slow the pace. Continue through the Hall of the Muses, Round Hall and Greek Cross Hall; finish at the reconstructed chariot. This is a close-looking sculpture route, not a dash to the Sistine Chapel. Allow roughly 30–45 minutes for museum security, ticket checks and the walk to the first room within the first stop, and follow staff directions if a gallery is temporarily rerouted.
