Hall of the Chariot
The reconstructed marble chariot is the reason to pause in the Hall of the Chariot. It offers a single, legible focus amid the Pio Clementino’s many statue-filled rooms.
Why go
This hall gathers attention around the chariot rather than a wall of portraits or a sequence of gods. Looking at the assembled vehicle invites a different question: how ancient sculptural fragments were made into a complete display. That makes the room a useful contrast with neighbouring spaces where individual figures dominate.
What to look for
A marble chariot stands at the centre of the room.
Its assembled form differs from the freestanding statues nearby.
Useful to know
Circle the central display to see how its parts fit together.
