Pinacoteca Leonardo Room
Leonardo’s unfinished St. Jerome is the main reason to enter Room IX of the Pinacoteca. Its incomplete state exposes the making of a Renaissance painting in a way finished works cannot.
Why go
Because St. Jerome was left unfinished, the figure still reveals stages of Leonardo’s work that a polished surface would conceal. The painting sits among other Renaissance works, but its visible process gives this room a distinct subject. A close look is especially worthwhile for visitors interested in how an image develops.
What to look for
Leonardo’s St. Jerome remains unfinished.
The painting is displayed in Room IX of the Pinacoteca.
Useful to know
Look for the unfinished areas before moving to the completed works nearby.
