Why go
This walk is for visitors interested in the meeting of port history, colonial architecture and religious sites. Start with the Custom House exterior, then pause at the Strand Hotel and the General Post Office to compare buildings along the waterfront. Turn inland for St Mary’s Cathedral before continuing east. Shwe Bhone Pwint Pagoda is an optional pause on the way to Botataung Pagoda, which makes a clear final destination. The middle stretch asks for steady walking, while the two exterior building stops are deliberately short. Keep the pagoda visit unhurried and use the optional stop only if the day still feels comfortable.
