The Careenage

Walk Bridgetown’s inner waterfront for boats, old bond houses and views across the Constitution River. This compact outdoor route follows a historic trading edge of the city.

The Careenage

Why go

The Careenage brings Bridgetown’s harbour history into a short waterside walk. Follow the public edge of the Constitution River and look across to the old bond houses, Parliament and the bridge crossings. The waterway feels more enclosed and urban than the open shore of Carlisle Bay. There is no single entrance or fixed route, so choose a comfortable public approach. Stop where the path is broad enough to watch the boats without blocking other walkers.

What to look for

  • Boats in the inner basin.
  • Old bond houses along the waterfront.
  • Views toward Parliament across the river.

Useful to know

  • Choose a public waterside approach; path or event restrictions may change the route.
