Why go
This route suits a first visit focused on Bergen’s trading and royal history. Start among Bryggen’s wooden passages, then use Bryggens Museum to understand what archaeologists found beneath the wharf. St Mary’s Church adds a different medieval building before the short walk north to Håkon’s Hall inside Bergenhus. The hall deserves an unhurried visit. Rosenkrantz Tower is optional because it is a separate, more demanding interior with stairs. Keep the route on foot, and check current access to the church, museum, hall and tower before setting a start time.
