Why go
Begin at Museo di San Marco, where Fra Angelico's paintings remain embedded in the former Dominican friary, then step outside to understand the neighboring San Marco church as part of the same complex. Continue to the Accademia di Belle Arti and Orto Botanico di Firenze before crossing Piazza Santissima Annunziata toward Ospedale degli Innocenti. Farther east, the Great Synagogue of Florence supplies a distinct architectural and cultural anchor. Museo dell'Opera del Duomo and Casa Buonarroti are valuable optional interiors, while the National Central Library and other inherited institutional stops work best as short exterior pauses when access is limited.
