The name can obscure its visitor value: this is a cultural complex with a Concert Hall, Theatre, exhibition spaces and library. Opened in 1962, the present buildings use clear geometric forms rather than the ornament of the earlier City Hall. The two blocks and garden show how a major public cultural centre was fitted into the reclaimed waterfront.
