La Merced Church and Convent
La Merced’s church and convent add a quieter colonial complex just off the main square. It is easy to include on a compact architectural walk.
Why go
The complex has a different scale and courtyard character from the cathedral and Jesuit church. Seeing them in sequence makes the variety of Cusco’s colonial religious buildings more apparent, while the short distances keep the route manageable. Its proximity makes the comparison easy on foot.
What to look for
A colonial church and convent stand near the main square.
Useful to know
Combine with Plaza de Armas and the Jesuit church; check entry to the convent separately.
