Library of Parliament
The polygonal Library of Parliament is the oldest surviving part of Centre Block and a landmark above the river bluff. Its exterior is visible, while ordinary interior access follows the wider Centre Block closure.
Look for the library's many-sided roof behind Centre Block, a survivor whose form differs sharply from the long facade in front. Its survival through the 1916 fire gives that roof a significance beyond a picturesque shape; compare it with the reconstructed facade in front and the river below.
What to look for
A many-sided roof distinguishes the Library behind Centre Block.
Useful to know
View the Library from the accessible Hill grounds or a river-facing lookout.
