From Trocadéro to Concorde Along Paris’s Grand Axis

A west-to-east day of river views, monumental avenues and one art museum, moving from Trocadéro and the Eiffel Tower to Place de la Concorde.

From Trocadéro to Concorde Along Paris’s Grand Axis

Why go

Begin at Trocadéro, where the terraces and gardens frame the Eiffel Tower across the Seine. Cross toward the tower for the day’s central landmark, then make the Arc de Triomphe an optional detour before following the Champs-Élysées east. The avenue’s planted stretches and long perspective carry the route toward the Grand Palais–Petit Palais ensemble and Place de la Concorde. Make the Petit Palais the major interior beyond the Eiffel Tower: its permanent collections and courtyard give the route an art pause inside the 1900 exhibition architecture. This is a full day of walking and large public spaces. If you go up the Eiffel Tower, keep the Arc terrace optional and give the museum a defined visit rather than attempting every interior at length.

Useful to know

  • Start at Trocadéro so the Eiffel Tower appears across the Seine before you cross toward it.
  • Treat the Arc de Triomphe as optional if you plan a tower ascent; both viewpoints add time and stairs or lifts.
  • Keep the Petit Palais as the route’s one major museum stop, then continue east to Place de la Concorde.
