Why go
Build this day around one central cluster before adding a second. Nanjing Road, Yuyuan Garden and Xintiandi combine commercial streets, a Ming-origin garden and shikumen renewal, but they still need walking and transit between them. Wen Miao and Longhua Temple add religious and historic context from different parts of the city. Jin Mao Tower is a separate Pudong skyline visit. Zhujiajiao, Minhang, the Shanghai Ghetto and Shanghai Zoo are choices for longer or more focused outings, not stops to stack onto an Old City walk. Keep one distant anchor optional, and use transit deliberately when moving between the riverbanks or outlying districts.
