Why go
Start at the Accademia Bridge, then visit the Gallerie dell’Accademia before continuing to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. The sequence next reaches Santa Maria della Salute and finishes its essential stops at Punta della Dogana, where the Grand Canal opens into St Mark’s Basin. Keep Ca’ Rezzonico optional: it requires a return west through Dorsoduro after the waterfront finish. The two principal collections make this a substantial day of interiors with short walks between them. Confirm museum and church visitor arrangements, give the collections most of your time, and leave the optional palace for another day if the earlier visits run long.
Useful to know
- Visit Salute before Punta della Dogana to follow the route’s order along the canal-basin edge.
- Keep Ca’ Rezzonico optional; reaching it after Punta della Dogana means returning west through Dorsoduro.
- Plan the Accademia and Peggy Guggenheim visits first; they account for most of the essential museum time.
