Basilica di San Giacomo Maggiore
This Augustinian basilica near Via Zamboni is especially valuable for the Bentivoglio family's Renaissance chapel. The church rewards visitors who look beyond the main nave to its art and architectural layers.
The Bentivoglio Chapel brings together family patronage, a patterned floor and paintings by Lorenzo Costa and Francesco Francia in one concentrated space. Elsewhere, the church's long portico and later dome show how the medieval foundation changed over time. Check access to the chapel before making it the sole reason for your stop.
