Bristol Museum & Art Gallery
This museum near the top of Park Street brings art, natural history and local history into one building. Its range makes a good indoor choice, though individual galleries can close.
The collections let you move between very different subjects without crossing the city: paintings, objects, wildlife and Bristol's past. The Edwardian Baroque building is part of the experience, so look at the hall and facade as well as the displays. It also pairs naturally with a walk up Park Street.
What to look for
Art, nature and history collections sit under one roof.
The Edwardian Baroque exterior marks the top of Park Street.
The central hall gives the museum a strong architectural setting.
Useful to know
Check which galleries are open before going for a particular collection.
Allow more time if you want to cover several subjects rather than one gallery.
Combine it with Park Street or the Wills Memorial Building nearby.
