Former Bank of Japan Hiroshima Branch
This former bank survived close to the hypocenter and now holds cultural displays. Its architecture also records how financial services resumed amid Hiroshima’s destruction.
Why go
The preserved building gives a rare interior view of a bombed civic institution. The Bank of Japan restarted payments shortly after August 6, so the site connects the immediate aftermath with reconstruction. Look for surviving structural traces and check the exhibition program, which may differ from the permanent building story.
