La Magione
La Magione sets a relatively restrained medieval church beside a broad open square in the Kalsa. It gives a different rhythm from Palermo’s ornate Baroque interiors.
The church’s ties to the Norman era and later military orders make it a useful stop for reading Palermo’s medieval layers. Its plain stone surfaces reward a slower look after the city’s decorated churches. The square helps you see the building as a whole.
