Museum of Visigothic Councils and Culture
This museum presents Visigothic Toledo inside the church of San Román. Come for the unusual pairing of early medieval objects and the later church that houses them.
Why go
Toledo’s Roman and Islamic remains often get more attention, but this collection fills an important interval between them. The finds give material form to the Visigothic councils and culture associated with the city. San Román also makes the setting part of the lesson: a visitor reads one historical layer through objects displayed inside another.
