Why go
The bridge explains how tightly the river crossing and city entrance once worked together. Its western tower belongs to a medieval rebuilding, while the opposite triumphal arch came much later. From the crossing, look back toward Toledo and up toward Castillo de San Servando across the river.
What to look for
- A medieval tower guards the city side of the crossing.
- A Baroque triumphal arch marks the opposite end.
- The bridge spans the Tagus below Castillo de San Servando.
Useful to know
- Use it as the link between the old city and the castle viewpoint across the river.
- The crossing is exposed; save it for a comfortable spell of weather if you plan to linger.
