Alhambra
The Alhambra brings a fortress, Nasrid palaces and gardens together on one hill above Granada. Give the complex unhurried time, especially if your visit includes the timed Nasrid Palaces.
Come for the change from military walls to intimate palace rooms and water shaped gardens. The Alcazaba, Mexuar and Palacio de los Leones belong to this larger complex, while the Generalife forms part of the same visit area. Seeing them together makes the hilltop setting and the court's use of it easier to understand.
What to look for
The Alcazaba's defensive walls frame the hilltop setting.
Nasrid palace rooms turn courtyards, decoration and water into part of the architecture.
The Generalife adds a garden residence to the palace and fortress visit.
Useful to know
Plan the route around the entry time printed on your Nasrid Palaces ticket.
Allow for steps, level changes and uneven ground across the complex; consult the adapted route if needed.
