Centre Block
Centre Block is the traditional home of the House of Commons and Senate, now enclosed for a major rehabilitation. Its Gothic Revival exterior and Peace Tower can still be read from accessible parts of Parliament Hill.
Why go
Compare the stone silhouette with the functioning West Block chamber to separate the historic parliamentary home from today's temporary arrangements. The building's closure shifts attention to masonry, massing, and the relation of the tower to its neighboring blocks; the separate West Block tour tells the current parliamentary story.
What to look for
The Centre Block roofline is capped by the Peace Tower.
Useful to know
Plan an exterior view while Centre Block remains under rehabilitation.
