Oxford Town Hall
Oxford's civic landmark faces St Aldate's near Carfax. Its grand façade is easy to include on a central walk; access to ceremonial rooms and events requires separate checking.
The Town Hall makes the city's civic identity visible among nearby university buildings. Its present façade dates from the late nineteenth century, replacing earlier halls on the same site. Pause here while walking south from Carfax towards Christ Church, then consider the Museum of Oxford inside as a distinct stop with its own visitor information.
What to look for
The historic civic façade stands on the east side of St Aldate's.
The Museum of Oxford is housed inside the building as a separate attraction.
