Magdalen College
Magdalen combines college courts with grounds beside the River Cherwell. Its cloister, chapel, deer park and Addison's Walk make it a fuller visit than its High Street frontage suggests.
Magdalen offers a rare progression from built Oxford into green space within one college. Founded in 1458, it is known for its choir and the Great Tower above the eastern end of the High. Walk through the historic core and out towards Addison's Walk and the deer park, allowing time for both architecture and landscape.
What to look for
The cloister and chapel form the college's historic core.
Addison's Walk follows the college grounds beside the Cherwell.
The deer park adds open landscape beyond the courts.
Useful to know
Allow more time than for a quad-only college visit if you want to reach Addison's Walk.
Check the college's visitor information for the day's access to buildings and grounds.
