Lincoln College
Lincoln is a small Turl Street college founded in the fifteenth century. Its Front Quad and Chapel Quad offer a quieter college setting close to the busy High Street.
Why go
Lincoln makes the contrast between Oxford's streets and its enclosed college courts easy to see. The Turl Street entrance leads to two distinct quads, and the nearby former All Saints Church now serves as the college library. Those sites show how the college has adapted older religious buildings to academic life.
What to look for
Front Quad and Chapel Quad sit behind the Turl Street entrance.
The former All Saints Church at High Street and Turl Street is now Lincoln's library.
Useful to know
Ask at the Porters' Lodge before entering the college quads.
See the former All Saints Church from the street; its library is not an ordinary public visit.
