Brasenose College
Brasenose faces the Radcliffe Camera across Radcliffe Square. Its Old Quad and later college buildings offer a close comparison with the public architecture just outside its gates.
The college founded in 1509 adds an intimate scale to Radcliffe Square. Its name is linked to a brass or bronze door knocker from an earlier hall. If admitted, the Old Quad, Hall, Chapel and Deer Park show layers of college life; the view back towards the Camera makes the relationship between the two sites clear.
